Shipping & fees

All orders are shipped directly from our studio in Kyoto, Japan.

Shipping fee is calculated based on actual products and destination of shipping. You can check the exact shipping fees upon checkout.

Currently, we are offering free shipping for orders above US$120 for APAC countries, and US$150 for US/Europe.

Shipping duration

Most orders are fulfilled within 2-3 business days after confirmation.

After dispatching, shipping times vary by destination. 

— For express shipping, we ship via Fedex Express, and it usually takes 2-5 business days to most destinations.

For standard shipping, we ship via Japan Post, and it usually takes 7-20 days, though from our experience, orders usually arrive within 1-2 weeks for most cases. For some destinations, standard shipping option is not available, and we send via express shipping.

Taxes & custom fees

As our products are shipped from Kyoto, Japan, they may be subject to taxes and custom fees in the country of delivery. These costs are the customers' responsibility. Please make sure to check carefully before placing your order.

While not exhaustive, the following can serve as a guide (updated: Feb 1, 2026):

— Singapore: Orders with total value less than SGD 400 (incl. shipping fees) are typically not subject to GST.

— Australia: Orders with total value of AUD 1000 or less are typically not subject to import duties or taxes. Please check this link for more info.

— United States:  All orders will be shipped DDP (Deliver Duty Paid), meaning we will handle your custom tax and handling fees on your behalf. There will be no additional fees that you will need to pay. 

— United Kingdom:  Currently, there is no GST on tea. For other items, if the order is valued at £135 or less, applicable GST rate will be added directly upon checkout. For order valued more than £135, both GST and customs duty will apply, but will not be directly added upon checkout. Instead, these fees (along with any handling fees from the carrier) will be invoiced to you by the shipping carrier.

— New Zealand: Orders with total value of NZD 1000 or less are typically not subject to duties or taxes. Please check this link for more info.

— European Union:  

• For orders with total value less than €150 euros (excl. shipping fees): VAT is chargeable on the items imported as well as the shipping fees. As Ode Ritual is registered in the Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS), VAT is directly added upon checkout. Ode Ritual pays VAT directly to the authorities, so you will not need to bear any additional fees. If you receive a payment request from the shipping carrier, please contact us at contact@oderitual.com. Please note: as IOSS is for purchases made by individuals, do not include a company name in the delivery or billing address, otherwise your shipment may be considered as commercial purchase and you may be subject to custom duties.
• For orders with total value €150 euros or more (excl. shipping fees): custom duties and handling fees (from the shipping carrier) will apply, in addition to VAT. For such orders, IOSS cannot be used, so VAT and custom duties will not be directly added upon checkout. Instead, any applicable VAT, duties, and handling fees will be invoiced to you by the shipping carrier.

— Canada: Orders above 20 CAD are subject to applicable taxes and duties. 

— Japan: All prices are displayed tax included. No other tax or fees are incurred for domestic orders.
