Chakai - Deep Charcoal
Chakai - Deep Charcoal
This chakai (tea jar) is handcrafted in Kusatsu, Shiga, Japan. Traditionally used to pour brewed tea from a teapot into teacups, it helps even out flavor and strength before serving. It may also be used to gently cool hot water to an ideal brewing temperature.
Suitable for sencha and other Japanese teas, the chakai features a katakuchi-style spout that allows for a smooth, controlled pour. Versatile in use, it may also serve as a small milk pitcher for coffee or matcha lattes, making it easy to incorporate into daily routines beyond tea.
