About this hojicha

This hojicha powder is made from first-flush tencha leaves grown in Izumo. Izumo, in Shimane prefecture, receives abundant sunshine that produces high quality tea leaves, but only grows limited quantity of tea leaves each year. The stem from the same tea leaves used for premium matcha are carefully handpicked and gently roasted over high heat, bringing out a toasty aroma and mellow flavor.
